Bio

Kelby Wingert is a multimedia journalist and a graduate of Iowa State University's Greenlee School of Journalism and Mass Communication. While at Iowa State, she served as a staff photographer, assistant photo editor and photo editor at the Iowa State Daily. She has won awards for her work, including two first place photography awards from the Society of Professional Journalists Mark of Excellence and a second place award from the Columbia Scholastic Press Association. 

Kelby interned at the StarNews in Wilmington, N.C., in the photo department for the summer of 2015. She began her first full-time position at the Fort Hood Sentinel as its newest sports editor and photojournalist in August 2015. 

Kelby has experience covering general news, breaking news, weather, the military, and high school and NCAA Division I athletics. She has covered two Big 12 men's basketball championships, visits from top U.S. military personnel and political campaign events.

Kelby strongly believes in the importance of the Fourth Estate and is a strong defender of the First Amendment. She believes in maintaining integrity and fairness in all her work and strives to be a strong, ethical journalist for the public.
